The Lagos State Government has announced a six-week repair project on the Adeniji Adele Interchange–CMS corridor, one of the city’s busiest routes, beginning Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The project, handled by the Federal Ministry of Works, is expected to run daily between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., concluding on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Officials said the rehabilitation aims to improve road quality, ease traffic congestion, and enhance overall mobility for thousands of commuters using the critical link between Lagos Island’s business districts and adjoining communities.

The Ministry of Transportation issued a detailed traffic advisory on Wednesday through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, outlining plans to manage vehicular flow during the works.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, only one lane will be closed at a time throughout the repair period to minimize traffic disruptions. “The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the repair works on the Adeniji Adele Interchange Junction to CMS,” he said in the statement.
“The repair will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily, commencing on Sunday, 12th October, and ending on Sunday, 23rd November, 2025, a duration of six weeks. To minimize traffic disruptions, only one lane will be closed at a time, while the remaining lanes will be open to motorists,” the Commissioner explained.
Mr. Osiyemi appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and comply with diversion signs during the repair. “We urge motorists to cooperate with our traffic officers and comply with all diversion signs. The lane restriction is necessary to allow the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out comprehensive repairs that will improve road quality and driving experience in this corridor,” he said.
He added that the project reflects ongoing collaboration between the Federal and Lagos State Governments to boost infrastructure and safety across the metropolis. Such interventions, he noted, are essential for maintaining the structural integrity of major arteries connecting the Island and Mainland.
The Adeniji Adele–CMS corridor is a vital route for thousands of vehicles accessing key commercial areas such as Marina, Broad Street, and Victoria Island. It also serves as a major link for business and commuter traffic from surrounding communities, making it one of Lagos Island’s most heavily used corridors.
Upon completion, the rehabilitation is expected to reduce persistent gridlock, shorten travel time, and create a smoother driving experience for road users. Authorities believe the project will significantly improve mobility and economic efficiency within the city’s financial hub.
