After the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared him wanted on September 5, 2025, Sujimoto Group CEO Olasijibomi Ogundele responded in a viral video, asserted his innocence. He claimed the allegations were tied to a failed contractual agreement with the Enugu State Government and stated he would report to the EFCC to clear his name

Ogundele stated in his video statement, “I’m not a thief, I’m not a fugitive. I am going to the EFCC office to clear my name.”

In the video, he asserted that the situation stemmed from a contract with the Enugu State Government to build several projects.

According to him, A disagreement with the government reportedly led to the contract’s frustration. Rising costs, such as the price of cement, and security issues, including his staff being shot at, also made the projects unviable.

Ogundele added that the matter later ended up in court.

The wanted notice for Ogundele, signed by the EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, accused him of “diversion of funds and money laundering”.
