Dangote cement has appointed Ahmed Ladan Gobir as Group Chief Human Resources Officer, reinforcing its leadership team as the company continues to expand its footprint across African markets.
This follows his earlier appointment in acting capacity in November 2025 and places one of Nigeria’s most experienced human resources professionals at the helm of talent strategy for the continent’s largest cement manufacturer.
Gobir brings decades of experience spanning human resources management, corporate governance, industrial relations, manufacturing, and public policy. His elevation comes at a time when Dangote Cement is focused on strengthening operational efficiency, workforce capability, and long-term growth across multiple jurisdictions.

The appointment has been welcomed by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) , where Gobir currently serves as President and Chairman of the Governing Council.
Veteran HR Executive with Pan-African Experience
Before assuming his current role, Gobir served in several senior leadership positions within the Dangote Group’s cement operations.
He was Acting Group Chief HR Officer from November 2025,and before that he served as Group General Manager, Human Resources between February 2022 and February 2026.
He also served Senior General Manager and Regional HR Adviser, Pan Africa (November 2018 – February 2022) and as a senior HR Adviser across various Dangote Cement operations, including Zambia.
Leadership Beyond Dangote Cement
Gobir’s influence extends beyond corporate HR into professional bodies, industry associations, and public institutions.
Since May 2024, he has served as President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), the country’s foremost HR professional body.

He also held senior positions at MBS Holdings & Investments Ltd and other organisations dating back to the 1980s.
