Afrobeats musician Davido has been appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke as the head of Youth mobilization in Accord Party’s 2026 Osun state governorship elections campaign council.
Announcing the appointment on Twitter, the singer who is just coming off a performance at Coachella said “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY 01 as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL! We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE – election your EXCELLENCY! 4+4”
Davido who recently registered as an Accord Party member is expected to play an active part in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s reelection campaign..
Davido who is the governor’s nephew was a visible participant in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s governorship campaign in 2022 as well as actively campaigning for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
He was appointed as chairman of the Osun state sports trust fund in 2025.
Osun 2026 Governorship Elections dates
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Osun State 2026 governorship election for Saturday, August 15, 2026, after initially fixing it for August 8 before making a slight adjustment.
Governor Ademola Adeleke would be seeking a return to office this time on the platform of Accord party having left the PDP over uncertainty at the national level.
