Osimhen, Akor Adams on Target as Nigeria Outclass Algeria to Set up Mouthwatering Semi Final Against Morrocco

Nigeria to face Morrocco on Wednesday in Rabat

Nigeria produced a commanding performance to defeat Algeria 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, booking a place in the semi-finals where they will face hosts Morocco.

The clash at the Marrakech Stadium was billed as one of the tournament’s standout fixtures, featuring two of Africa’s most decorated nations. Despite pre-match talk of a tight encounter, the Super Eagles dominated from start to finish.

After a dominant first half with no goals, Victor Osimhen opened the scoring early in the second half with a powerful header from a Bruno Onyemaechi cross, breaking the deadlock and putting Nigeria ahead.

Shortly after, Akor Adams doubled Nigeria’s lead, finishing a swift attacking move to put the result beyond doubt.

Nigeria controlled possession and limited Algeria’s attacking opportunities, with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and the defence keeping a clean sheet against a side that had conceded just once before this match.

With this victory, Nigeria advances to the AFCON 2025 semi-final where they will meet tournament hosts Morocco, who earlier secured their own last-four spot with a 2-0 win over Cameroon.
