The National Universities Commission (NUC) has opened new job opportunities for able Nigerians in various cadres.

The topmost regulatory institution in Nigeria for university education disclosed this in a public announcement on Wednesday, September 24, calling for applications from appropriately qualified individuals to fill slots at its headquarters in Abuja.

Vacant positions across cadres The NUC said the openings are for three principal cadres: officer cadre, confidential secretary cadre, and clerical and auxiliary staff cadre.

For the officer cadre, the following vacancies are available: Senior Officer (CONTISS 9), Trainee/Officer I (CONTISS 8), and Trainee Officer II (CONTISS 7).

In the confidential secretary cadre, the opening is for Confidential Secretary I (CONTISS 7).

For the clerical and auxiliary staff cadre, the following vacancies are available: Assistant Cameraman (CONTISS 5), Data Processing Assistant (CONTISS 5), Artisans/Craftsmen like carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and air-conditioning mechanics (CONTISS 4 or CONTISS 3), Lift Operator (CONTISS 4 or CONTISS 3), and Motor Driver/Mechanic (CONTISS 4 or CONTISS 3).

The Commission made this revelation that the recruitment process is available to all qualified Nigerian citizens aged 18 to 50 years. Applicants should provide appropriate qualifications, competency, skills, and orientation. “NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, digital skills and competencies shall be required for applicants for CONTISS 7-9,” the notice stated. Applicants for senior officer positions must hold a PhD or Master’s degree in relevant education disciplines, while those applying for technical roles such as drivers or artisans must present O’ Level certificates alongside trade test certifications.

The directed all interested and qualified candidates to apply online via its official portal at www.nuc.gov.ng Applicants were urged to complete and submit their applications within six weeks from the date of publication. The Commission also cautioned that only shortlisted candidates would be invited for further stages of the recruitment process. “The application process is entirely free of charge. Applicants should beware of fraudsters,” the notice read.
