The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2025 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) 34 enlistment exercise.

The recruitment, which targets graduates and postgraduates across diverse professions, is open online from August 27 to October 7, 2025, with applications entirely free of charge.

According to a statement signed by Air Vice Marshal H.A. Bakarai, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, the NAF emphasized its call for young Nigerians to serve with pride and professionalism. “Are you a graduate seeking an opportunity to serve your nation with pride and professionalism? The Nigerian Air Force is inviting applications into the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 34/2025 across various professions,” the notice read.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and meet strict fitness, age, and character standards. Key requirements include:

  • Age limit: 20 to 32 years, except for medical doctors who may apply up to 40 years.
  • Minimum height requirement: 1.68m for males and 1.63m for females.
  • Applicants must be free of criminal convictions and must meet NAF medical, physical, and psychological standards.
  • Serving personnel may only apply if they have completed 10 years of service and are recommended by their Commanding Officer.

Academic and professional qualifications

Candidates are required to have strong academic backgrounds to qualify. Minimum requirements include:

  • Second-Class Lower Division for degree holders or Lower Credit for HND holders.
  • NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Letter.
  • Five credit passes at SSCE level, including English and Mathematics.
  • Professional qualifications where applicable.
  • Medical applicants must hold full registration certificates with statutory professional bodies.

Application process and required documents

All applications must be completed online, with forms printed for verification. Required documents include:

  • Acknowledgement Form
  • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
  • Local Government Attestation Form signed by:
  • A military officer not below Wing Commander (or equivalent), or
  • A Police officer of at least Assistant Commissioner rank, or
  • A Local Government Chairman/Secretary, or
  • A Magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

The attestation must carry the signatory’s passport photograph and a valid ID (driver’s license, national ID, or international passport). Invalid applications will not generate these forms.

Selection process and inquiries

The NAF stated that shortlisted candidates will undergo a Zonal Enlistment Aptitude Test, with the date to be announced later. Successful applicants will then proceed to selection interviews, ensuring a transparent and merit-driven recruitment process.
