Jake Riley is recruiting a Head of Zigma Gas to lead its gas business unit in Lagos, Nigeria.

The role is on-site and full-time, offering an opportunity to drive project development, secure commercial agreements, and build a profitable gas commercialisation operation.

The successful candidate will oversee the Zigma Gas unit from development through operations, taking full ownership of project delivery and business performance.

About the Role

The Head of Zigma Gas will lead the company’s participation in the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP), driving the project from its current stage through to first gas production.

The role requires strong commercial, regulatory, engineering, and stakeholder management expertise within Nigeria’s gas and midstream sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) of the Zigma Gas business unit
  • Lead NGFCP project development through to first gas
  • Negotiate gas supply agreements with upstream asset owners
  • Secure offtake agreements for LPG, CNG, and other gas products
  • Manage regulatory relationships with NUPRC and other authorities
  • Lead community engagement and secure social licence to operate
  • Structure project financing alongside the CIO and attract investors
  • Oversee engineering and construction activities
  • Develop operations readiness plan for plant startup
  • Build and manage the Zigma Gas team
  • Monitor gas market trends and identify expansion opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in oil and gas, with strong midstream/gas exposure
  • Proven track record delivering gas projects in Nigeria
  • Strong understanding of NGFCP framework and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in gas processing, LPG, CNG, or power generation
  • Strong commercial negotiation experience
  • Excellent stakeholder and community relations skills
  • Engineering background (Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred)
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage
  • Strong leadership and team-building ability
