Hilda Baci’s Recent Record

Chef Hilda Baci recently set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. She prepared a total of 8,780 kilograms of the iconic dish. The feat took place at Eko Hotels & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Baci and her team relied on staggering amounts of ingredients. These included 4,000 kilograms of washed basmati rice, which by Guinness rules had to account for at least 80% of the final weight. There were also 164 kilograms of goat meat, 220 kilograms of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes, and over 600 kilograms of her signature jollof pepper mix. The preparation required 1,200 kilograms of gas and a specially fabricated pot. The pot measured about six metres in diameter to handle the unprecedented volume.
