#FreeNnamdiKanuprotests: Police Now Accompanying Protesters

Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest

In a notable shift from earlier confrontations, police and other security operatives are now accompanying rather than disrupting protesters. These protesters are demanding the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Officers were seen escorting the demonstrators along major routes, including Shehu Shagari Way, Aso Drive, and the Federal Secretariat axis. They are maintaining order and ensuring the march proceeds safely.

The protest has remained peaceful, with more citizens joining as it moves through the city centre. However, traffic continues to be affected. Observers have described the scene as a large, orderly demonstration advocating for Kanu’s immediate release.

“It’s inspiring to see people coming out in such numbers, peacefully and with police ensuring safety,” said human rights observer Chika Onuoha.

Authorities have urged motorists and residents to remain cautious while commuting through the affected areas, as the demonstration continues into the afternoon.
