A suspicious job posting on LinkedIn claiming to advertise a General Manager/Chief Operating Officer position at Amazon.com has been flagged as potentially fake, after LinkedIn detected that the link attached to the listing redirects to a malicious external site.
The post, listed under Job ID 4316266676, appeared legitimate at first glance — using Amazon’s corporate branding and professional tone — but the embedded link routes applicants through several redirects to a deceptive domain resembling “stravito-recruitingweb.com.”
LinkedIn’s automated safety system now displays a prominent warning when users click the link, cautioning that the destination may steal personal information or install malware on their devices.
How the Fake Amazon Job Works
Cyber-fraudsters increasingly exploit online job boards to gather personal data or steal login credentials. In this case, the malicious post mimicked a genuine Amazon job listing, but clicking “Apply” led users to a counterfeit portal hosted through Google Ads and DoubleClick redirect chains.
Typical tactics used in such scams include:
Collecting CVs, names, and contact information for identity theft.
Prompting users to log in through fake recruitment forms to capture LinkedIn or email passwords.
Requesting “processing” or “relocation” payments under the guise of official Amazon recruitment.
Amazon’s Official Recruitment Policy
Amazon conducts all recruitment exclusively through its verified career site — www.amazon.jobs.
The company has repeatedly warned jobseekers to avoid external links, unsolicited offers, or requests for payment of any kind.
Legitimate openings never require fees or redirect through advertising networks.
LinkedIn’s Warning and Advice
LinkedIn confirmed that the “Apply” link on the fraudulent Amazon listing connects to a known phishing domain and has been marked unsafe.
The platform urges users to:
Apply only through verified employer portals.
Avoid shortened or complex redirect URLs.
Report suspicious listings using LinkedIn’s “Report Job” feature.
Run antivirus scans if they’ve already clicked a flagged link.
“We continuously remove fraudulent job posts and educate our members on safe job-search practices,” a LinkedIn spokesperson said in an earlier advisory.
Bottom Line
The “Amazon.com General Manager/COO” vacancy circulating on LinkedIn is not genuine. Jobseekers should verify opportunities directly through Amazon’s official site and remain alert to phishing attempts that exploit trusted brands to harvest personal data.
