Join the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub and Support Global Climate Projects

The Commonwealth Secretariat is recruiting experts to join its pool for the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub (CCFAH)—an initiative designed to help vulnerable countries access climate funding and strengthen resilience.

Salary and Location

  • Salary: £55,000 per year (plus allowances and benefits)
  • Location: Across Commonwealth member states in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific

About the Role

The CCFAH supports countries in overcoming barriers to climate finance. As part of this effort, the Secretariat is building a pool of Commonwealth National, Regional, and Thematic Climate Finance Advisers.

This is a demand-driven role. If shortlisted, you will be added to the expert pool and contacted when a suitable placement becomes available based on your skills and country needs.

The Hub is hosted by the Government of Mauritius and has already mobilised over $566 million for more than 180 climate-related projects as of 2026.

Key Responsibilities

While roles vary by country and specialization, core responsibilities include:

  • Developing climate finance projects
  • Building capacity within government institutions
  • Managing and sharing knowledge products (reports, research, analysis)
  • Engaging stakeholders, including governments and donors
  • Coordinating programmes and partnerships
  • Supporting gender and youth inclusion in climate initiatives
  • Supervising teams (for regional roles)

Requirements

Education

A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as:

  • Climate Change
  • Environmental Studies or Economics
  • Natural Resource Management
  • Energy
  • Project Management
  • Business Studies
  • Or related disciplines

For thematic roles (e.g. gender or health), a postgraduate qualification in the relevant area is required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in climate policy, project management, or related sectors
  • Strong expertise in climate finance, including proposal development and funding readiness
  • Experience in resource mobilisation and working with governments, donors, or NGOs
  • Proven ability to produce reports, research, and knowledge materials
  • Experience working in developing countries, especially in Africa, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, or Pacific regions
