Role Overview: Markets Business Manager

The Markets Business Manager will support multiple desks and asset classes within Citi’s Markets business.

The role combines business strategy, risk and control oversight, regulatory engagement, and stakeholder coordination, requiring a senior professional capable of operating independently in a matrixed environment.

This position is central to ensuring that Citi’s Markets business in Nigeria operates within a robust, harmonized control framework while continuing to grow sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing updates on financial performance, opportunities, risks, and control issues
  • Supporting new business initiatives, product expansion, and technology-driven change
  • Creating and delivering effective management metrics across multiple risk areas
  • Advancing the control framework, including Manager’s Control Assessment testing, operational loss processes, and remediation actions
  • Building strong relationships with country product teams, business heads, and functional partners
  • Acting as a liaison between desk heads and internal control and support functions
  • Identifying control-related issues and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Challenging existing processes and frameworks to drive risk reduction
  • Preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, and tracking follow-up actions
  • Supporting internal and external regulatory exams and audits
  • Managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Required Knowledge & Experience

Professional Background

  • Relevant experience in financial markets, either within front-office business roles or business support functions
  • Exposure to financial markets products is a strong advantage
  • Solid understanding of the financial markets regulatory landscape
  • Minimum of a first degree or equivalent, plus a relevant postgraduate degree or professional qualification

Experience Requirements

  • At least 15 years post-graduation experience
  • Minimum of 10 years in the banking industry
  • At least 3 years at senior manager level
  • Demonstrated experience across at least three major areas of banking operations
