Seplat Energy Congratulates Departing Directors Appointed to NNPC Limited

Seplat Energy Plc has announced the immediate resignation of two key members of its Board of Directors, Mr. Bello Rabiu and Mr. Babs Omotowa, following their recent appointments to the Board of NNPC Limited by the President of Nigeria.

Mr. Rabiu, who served as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director (SINED), and Mr. Omotowa, an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED), tendered their resignations with immediate effect, Seplat Energy disclosed in a statement signed by its Director of Legal and Company Secretary, Mrs. Edith Onwuchekwa.

Commenting on the development, Seplat Energy Chairman, Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, congratulated the outgoing directors, praising their strategic drive and the wealth of industry experience they brought to the Seplat Board. “On behalf of the Board and the entire Management team, we congratulate both Mr. Rabiu and Mr. Omotowa on their well-deserved appointments and thank them for their immense contributions,” Mr. Udoma said.

Seplat Energy, Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy company, emphasized that it remains focused on its strategy of building a sustainable business and delivering energy transition solutions. The company, dual-listed on the Nigerian Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, recently expanded its operations with the acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, enlarging its portfolio to eleven oil and gas blocks and reinforcing its position as a major supplier of natural gas to Nigeria’s domestic power sector.

The resignation of Mr. Rabiu and Mr. Omotowa highlights the increasing demand for experienced private sector executives in public sector energy leadership roles, particularly as Nigeria navigates complex reforms in the oil and gas industry.

Seplat Energy’s management assured stakeholders that governance and leadership transitions are being carefully managed to sustain operational momentum and strategic focus.
