Job Title: Programme Assistant, Community Outreach
Location: Gashua, Yobe
Job Description
- The post holder will play a central role in enhancing community engagement and ensuring effective communication between the project and the affected populations.
- The role focuses on disseminating accurate and timely information, creating awareness through community structures, and strengthening community-based mechanisms to support informed decision-making and access to services.
- S/he will be responsible for mobilising and coordinating with key community stakeholders such as peace clubs, local peace committees, rapid response teams, and local government officials to ensure the success of the BMZ project activities.
Person Specifications
Education/Qualifications:
- Minimum of National Diploma in Social Sciences/ Art or related field is essential.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies and agencies is desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in humanitarian response context with a strong focus on both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies is essential.
- Experience in organising and managing community events is essential.
- Background in addressing community concerns and resolving issues effectively is essential.
- Experience using ODK for quantitative data collection is essential.
- Related experience on a WFP-funded project is desirable
- Previous experience in Third Party Monitoring (TPM) is essential.
- Proven ability to interact with community members, leaders, and partners is essential.
Skill/Abilities:
- Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive, and other cloud-based software tools.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility
