The Federal Government has arraigned three men before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The three defendants—Abdulrazak Umar, also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid; Yunusa Musa, also known as Yunusa bin Musa; and Shamsu Adamu Sani, also known as Abu Itisar—were charged on Friday with a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement, and illegal mining.
According to the charge filed by the Federal Government, the suspects allegedly conspired with three other individuals identified as Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed, and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to orchestrate the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State.
The government further accused the defendants of aiding the abduction by concealing information about the identities, plans, and activities of the alleged masterminds despite having prior knowledge of the plot. Prosecutors also included charges relating to incitement and illegal mining in the case.
The arraignment follows the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers after spending 56 days in captivity.
