Profile: Oxygen X Appoints Abiodun Adigun as Managing Director

Oxygen X, the digital lending subsidiary of Access Holdings Plc, has appointed Abiodun Adigun as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, reinforcing the company’s ambition to expand access to technology-driven credit solutions and deepen financial inclusion across Nigeria.

Adigun brings more than two decades of experience in financial services, spanning business development, sales leadership, credit management, customer experience and business transformation. His appointment comes as Oxygen X seeks to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital lending landscape.

Corporate Leadership Background

Before assuming the leadership of Oxygen X, Adigun served as Country Sales Head and Chief Marketing Officer at Credit Direct Finance Company Limited, where he played a pivotal role in driving business growth, expanding market share and leading strategic diversification initiatives. During his seven-year tenure in the role, he helped strengthen the company’s commercial capabilities and deepen customer engagement across multiple market segments.

Prior to becoming Chief Marketing Officer, he served as Regional Business Development Manager at Credit Direct, where he was responsible for sales growth, market expansion and business development initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Adigun held leadership positions at First City Monument Bank (FCMB), including Assistant Zonal Head and Branch Business Manager. At FCMB, he was credited with significantly growing deposits and liabilities, expanding consumer lending volumes and coordinating profitability reporting across the zone. He also led deposit mobilisation initiatives and oversaw quality asset growth while mentoring and training junior banking professionals.

His appointment reflects Oxygen X’s commitment to building a leadership team with deep expertise in consumer finance, customer acquisition and digital transformation as competition intensifies within Nigeria’s fintech and digital lending ecosystem.

Academic Qualifications

Adigun holds a Master of Business Administration from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Shanghai, one of Asia’s leading business schools. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as well as a member of the Institute of Sales and Marketing UK.

In addition, he has completed executive education programmes in digital leadership, innovation and business transformation at globally recognised institutions, including Imperial College London and Singapore Management University.

As Managing Director and CEO, Adigun is expected to lead Oxygen X’s next phase of growth as the company expands its digital credit offerings and leverages technology to improve access to financial services for underserved individuals and businesses.
