About the Ceremony

The event, which took place at Afewonro Park, Enuwa Square, in the Ooni’s Palace marked the culmination of anniversary activities for Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), the revered monarch and Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council. A highlight of the event was the conferment of the prestigious Yoruba title Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua (“Mother Leader of All Yorubaland”) on Remi Tinubu, recognising her longstanding support for cultural preservation and national unity.

In her acceptance speech, Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed gratitude for the “divine privilege” and lauded the Ooni’s decade of leadership in elevating Yoruba pride globally. She projected an optimistic vision for Nigeria, declaring that by 2026, the country’s economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu would transform it into a lender to other nations, reversing its current borrowing status.
