The Board of Directors of Zenith Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Abdulazeez Rislana Kanya as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective September 24, 2025. His appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Dr. Kanya brings a strong academic and professional background to the board. He earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from the University of Portsmouth, UK, in 2008, followed by an MBA from the University of Wales (Thames Business School, Singapore) in 2010, and later a Ph.D. in Computing: Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D) from the University of Portsmouth.
He began his academic journey at Informatics Academy, Singapore (2004–2005), obtaining international diplomas in computing, and later trained at Ctech Incorporation, Spatter, New Jersey, USA (2006), where he became a certified instructor in copper-based networking, fiber optics-based networking, and integrated systems.
A seasoned practitioner and scholar in ICT4D, Dr. Kanya has extensive expertise in information systems, digital transformation, change management, and business process re-engineering. His experience also spans enterprise architecture, programme management, business continuity, resilience, and higher education planning. Over the years, he has participated in several local and international workshops and seminars.
Zenith Bank described Dr. Kanya’s appointment as a move that will strengthen its governance structure and support its innovation-driven strategy in the financial services sector.
