Social media activist Martis Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, aka Mr Jollof came to blows on Monday morning aboard a United Nigerian Airline from Asaba in Delta State to Lagos.
VDM confirmed the fight in a social media post claiming that he dealt with Mr Jollof. “I don chop Jollof father for inside plane. He bite me, man wey de bite,” he said in a video.
Clips from the fracas currently making rounds on social media showed both men struggling with each other with other passengers seemingly trying to break them apart.
The clash between both men started in 2024 after VDM criticised Mr Jollof over his comments about footballer Victor Osimhen, prompting Mr Jollof to fire back, labelling VDM “a product of a broken home,” and attack his upbringing.
Mr Jollof’s main controversial statement about Victor Osimhen came in a July 2024 video where he blasted the Super Eagles striker after Osimhen allegedly blocked him on Instagram.
In the clip, Mr Jollof claimed he had only tried to “correct” Osimhen over his clash with then Super Eagles coach Finidi George, but the player responded by blocking him. He went on to mock Osimhen’s form, describing him as a “one-season wonder”, insisting that the Napoli forward’s value had dropped since the disagreement with Finidi and suggesting he was no longer as important to his club.
This brought VDM who is a known ally of the now Galatasaray forward to the fray with tensions escalating between him and Mr. Jollof.
Mr. Jollof later questioned VDM’s sexuality in viral videos and VDM responded by making serious allegations about Mr Jollof’s wife, including claims of infidelity, which led Mr Jollof and later his wife to file defamation suits reportedly seeking about ₦500 million in damages against the activist.
