US ICE Facility Shooting: Three Shot, Gunman Dead in Dallas Attack

A tragic shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas left one person dead and two others wounded Wednesday morning. The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after opening fire from an adjacent building, according to Dallas police officials.

Dallas police responded to emergency calls at approximately 6:40 AM on September 24, finding a scene of unprecedented violence at the federal immigration facility. Officers discovered that the suspected shooter had targeted the government building from a neighboring structure, creating a deadly crossfire situation that left multiple casualties.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to CNN that at least two of the shooting victims were ICE detainees held at the facility. An ICE spokesperson later told NBC News that all three people shot were detainees, while no ICE agents suffered injuries during the attack.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressed the incident, stating that details were “still emerging” while confirming “multiple injuries and fatalities” at the ICE field office. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons assured the public that the “scene is secure” and confirmed three people were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Vice President JD Vance characterized the shooting as an “obsessive attack on law enforcement” that “must stop,” despite no ICE agents being harmed. Texas Senator Ted Cruz expressed gratitude for first responders and offered prayers for the injured victims and their families.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino confirmed federal agents are “fully engaged” at the Dallas crime scene alongside state and local law enforcement partners. The shooting highlights growing concerns about violence targeting immigration enforcement facilities, as Secretary Noem noted that ICE law enforcement faces “unprecedented violence.”

Parkland Hospital in Dallas received two patients from the incident, though officials declined to provide details about their medical conditions. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the shooter’s motive behind this deadly attack on the federal immigration facility.
