Several United Kingdom airports have started scraping the long-standing UK 100ml Liquid Rule restricting liquids over 100ml in hand luggage, in addition to the installation of new 3D CT scanners to replace outdated systems across several major airports in a bid to ensure airport screening goes seamlessly.
The 100ml liquid rule and the need to remove laptops from hand luggage have long been a source of frustration for travelers, which makes the gradual phasing out of the hand luggage rule and old scanners a welcome development related to the UK 100ml Liquid Rule.
Airports That Have Relaxed the 100ml Liquid Rule
The UK government has now begun rolling out advanced security scanners that allow travellers to carry liquids up to 2 litres in their hand luggage, without removing them at security.
The following airports have already complied with the new initiative:
- Birmingham Airport
- Bristol Airport
- Edinburgh Airport
- Gatwick Airport
- Leeds Bradford Airport
- London City Airport
- Luton Airport
- Newcastle Airport
- Southend Airport and
- Teesside Airport
As a result of this development, travelers no longer need to place liquids or electronics like laptops in separate trays at these airports, ending the inconvenience associated with the UK 100ml Liquid Rule.
