Tax Reforms: Over 11,000 Professionals Enrol in Presidential Tax Reform Train-the-Trainer Programme

Officials say the initiative is aimed at creating a pool of trained professionals who can support smoother adoption of tax reforms, improve compliance levels, and help optimise the benefits of the new fiscal policies

Nigeria Tax Reforms training

More than 11,000 professionals across Nigeria have registered for the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee’s Train-the-Trainer Programme, far exceeding the initial target of 3,000 participants, as the federal government intensifies efforts to deepen understanding of its new tax reform agenda.

Organisers confirmed that Module 1 of the programme has been successfully completed, with participants now invited to continue with Module 2, scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

According to information contained in official programme materials, the overwhelming response — 11,137 applications received within two weeks — prompted organisers to restructure the training into three modular sessions to accommodate participants nationwide. Attendees are allowed to participate in Module 1 only, Modules 1 and 2, or all three modules, depending on their professional needs.

Focus on Tax Reform Implementation and Compliance

The Train-the-Trainer Programme is being coordinated by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee and is designed to equip professionals with both technical knowledge and practical tools for the effective implementation of Nigeria’s evolving tax reforms.

Module 2, which participants are now invited to join, focuses on technical analysis, deep insights, and compliance requirements, building on the introductory foundations covered in Module 1.

Programme materials indicate that Module 1 addressed tax reform foundations, policy objectives, and key changes, while Module 3, scheduled for a later date, will centre on case studies and practical applications of the reforms.

Broad Professional Participation

The training targets a wide range of stakeholders involved in tax administration and advisory services, including tax professionals, accountants, lawyers, economists, academics, finance managers, compliance officers, revenue administrators, legal advisers, policy analysts, and consultants.

Officials say the initiative is aimed at creating a pool of trained professionals who can support smoother adoption of tax reforms, improve compliance levels, and help optimise the benefits of the new fiscal policies across both public and private sectors.

The programme forms part of the federal government’s broader strategy to modernise Nigeria’s tax system, expand the tax base, and improve revenue mobilisation without placing undue burdens on citizens and businesses.

By adopting a train-the-trainer model, the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee hopes participants will cascade knowledge gained from the sessions to wider professional networks, strengthening institutional capacity and compliance nationwide.
