Sunil Natraj becomes  new Jumia CEO for Nigeria

Sunil Natraj is the new Chief Executive Officer for Nigeria, according to a Jumia announcement. An official statement from the company states that Sunil Natraj’s appointment will take effect on January 1st, 2024.  With effect from December 31, 2023, Massimiliano Spalazzi will step down as CEO and hand the reins over to the new leader of the company.  

The CEO of Jumia Group, Francis Dufay spoke on the exit of Massimiliano Spalazzi and congratulated the new CEO saying, Dufay said “We extend our sincere thanks and wish the best to Massi as he departs our teams following 11 years since the very start of Jumia. We wish the very best for Sunil for this new challenge’’.

Before taking on the position of CEO for Jumia Ghana, Mr. Sunil Natraj managed the Jumia Express logistics company while serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Jumia, LLC, based in Lagos, Nigeria, when he joined the company in 2022.

Speaking on the appointment, Mr Sunil said, “I’m thrilled I will be leading Jumia in Nigeria, one of our largest markets, and to help transform Africa’s economy through e-commerce. It’s an honour to contribute to Jumia’s success in the country, prioritizing customer satisfaction, secure payments, and strong partnerships. Our dedicated team is key to our future success, and I am confident we will achieve even greater milestones, always earning our customers’ trust.”
