Seplat Energy Plc has announced the successful completion of the Inlet Gas Exchanger (IGE) replacement project on its East Area Project (EAP) platform in OML 67, offshore Nigeria. The company said the project, its main offshore capital investment in 2025, was delivered on budget.
The IGE module is critical to Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) extraction, a key segment of Seplat’s offshore operations. The completion signals stronger output potential as the facility continues to stabilise after restart.
According to Seplat, the EAP complex has been operating in line with expectations since it came back onstream. NGL sales have surged by more than 100% in late November to roughly 6,850 bopd (about 3,500 bopd net working interest), compared with 3,360 bopd (around 1,720 bopd net) during the first nine months of 2025.

The company expects further increases as efficiency improves, projecting volumes of up to 11,000 bopd (about 5,700 bopd net) in the coming months. These gains underscore the importance of the IGE unit in achieving stronger NGL recovery and higher-margin output.
Six Weeks of Safe, High-Standard Work
The IGE replacement involved load-out, lifting, installation, tie-in, commissioning and start-up activities executed over six weeks. Seplat said more than 2.2 million m*n-hours of work were completed safely and without incident, meeting top industry standards.
This underscores the company’s focus on operational excellence and disciplined project delivery offshore. The smooth execution also strengthens its confidence in scaling offshore production.
CEO Comment:
Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown described the project as a milestone for the company’s offshore strategy. “We are pleased to have completed the first major capital project on our offshore operations on budget,” he said.
Brown noted that the IGE upgrade supports Seplat’s near-term production growth plans following the December 2024 acquisition of offshore assets. He highlighted that pentane-rich NGLs deliver some of the company’s highest-margin barrels, while domestically sold butane improves energy access and supports clean cooking efforts in Nigeria.
The CEO added: “The successful completion of this project demonstrates the quality of our project and operations teams, the strong collaboration with our partners, the continued support of the local communities and Seplat Energy’s commitment to drive growth offshore that will deliver value for Nigeria and our stakeholders.”
