The Rivers State House of Assembly has agreed to investigate the state’s finances during the six-month tenure of sole administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas following their reinstatement.
The resolution was passed during the assembly’s first plenary since last Thursday. Lawmakers also directed Governor Siminalayi Fubara to submit a list of commissioner nominees for screening. His appointment followed President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers on March 18, after a prolonged political crisis stemming from the rift between Governor Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
During his time as sole administrator, he was unable to complete the reconstruction of the state assembly complex, with Rivers state citizens urging Governor Fubara to probe the activities of Ibok-Ete Ibas upon his return to office.
