Job Overview – Program Manager, Country Engagement
The Program Manager (PM) will:
- Oversee multiple country programs across Africa
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Translate strategic priorities into executable program plans
- Support senior leadership by managing day-to-day operations
- Strengthen systems, processes, and accountability across projects
You will act as a key operational partner to the senior leader overseeing the Africa portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Learning
- Manage day-to-day execution of multiple country programs
- Develop workplans, scopes, milestones, and timelines
- Track deliverables and proactively address risks
- Coordinate across technical, finance, MEL, and operations teams
- Maintain tracking tools for budgets, progress, and risks
- Support donor and internal reporting
- Monitor burn rates and forecast spending
Support to Senior Leadership – Africa Portfolio
- Serve as a trusted operational partner
- Prepare briefs, summaries, and planning materials
- Support events, conferences, and study tours logistics
- Translate strategy into clear operational priorities
Systems & Capacity Building
- Improve program management tools and templates
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement
- Coach project leads on planning and execution
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in:
- International Development
- Public Policy
- IT
- Development Economics
- Related field
- 5–7 years professional experience in international development
- 3–5 years in program management of complex projects
- Experience in matrixed organizations (advantage)
- Fluent in English (French is a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint) and program management tools
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently

Travel required occasionally.

Salary & Benefits
Annual Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
