Commissioner of Police, Olubode Ojajuni, has been elected into the INTERPOL Africa Committee during the 27th African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Nigeria Police Force, in a statement by its spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, announced that the election secured Nigeria the fifth seat on the committee for a two-year tenure. The INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a key role in advising the regional conference, facilitating its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities. It also works to strengthen cross-border police cooperation, promote best practices, and develop initiatives that enhance regional and continental security.
According to the Force, this achievement highlights Nigeria’s growing influence in global law enforcement, especially in combating transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging security threats.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, while congratulating Ojajuni, pledged that the Nigeria Police would continue to uphold professionalism and deepen collaboration with international partners. “The Nigeria Police will sustain active engagement with global partners to promote peace and security worldwide,” he stated.
Ojajuni, who once served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, was among the 66 senior officers promoted by the Police Service Commission in March 2025. Before his elevation to Commissioner of Police, he served as Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ogun State. He has also held roles including Principal Officer 3 to former IGP Ibrahim Idris and Area Commander, Area A Command, Lion Building, Lagos.
