Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has earned a spot on the 10-man shortlist for the 2025 CAF Men’s African Player of the Year award, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old, who claimed the prestigious prize in 2023, is joined by:
– Fiston Mayele (Congo)
– Frank Anguissa (Cameroon)
– Denis Bouanga (Gabon)
– Illmane Ndiaye (Senegal)
– Pape Sarr (Senegal)
Osimhen’s explosive 2024-25 season with Galatasaray saw him net **26 league goals**, powering the Turkish giants to the Süper Lig title. His form prompted Galatasaray to trigger a record €75 million permanentoption to make his loan from Napoli permanent.
Other Nigerian Nominees
– Stanley Nwabali – Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year (up against Yassine Bounou, Ronwen Williams, and André Onana)
– Daniel Bameyi – Men’s Young Player of the Year (Flying Eagles captain)
