Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the embattled representative of Kogi West, recently made a symbolic visit to her home in a white helicopter, receiving a rousing welcome from her supporters despite a ban on rallies and gatherings imposed by the Kogi State Government.
The embattled lawmaker was welcomed by her jubilant Supporters from Kogi Central’s five local government areas who gathered early in Ihima, Okehi LGA, to welcome her.
Earlier Restrictions
Kogi state governor Usman Ododo had announced a ban on public gatherings and convoys in a press statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo on Monday, citing security concerns as the reason for the restriction.

This move was seen in many quarters as a move to silence the opposition especially Senator Natasha with the lawmaker claiming ex-governor Yahaya Bello and Senate president Godswill Akpabio were also in on the plot.
Addressing the crowd, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the government’s restrictions, insisting she was merely celebrating Salah with her constituents.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said, “Yesterday, we heard on the news that rallies and gatherings will not be allowed, that roads will be blocked, and convoys leading into the state will not be allowed.
“I knew that we were the targets. But then I said, this is not political season, this is not campaign time.”
“We are not having a rally. This is just me, the Senator representing Kogi Central, coming down to her people to celebrate this festive time – the Salah with you, and there is nothing wrong with that.
“I am breaking no law. This is Nigeria. We have the right to be free, to express our choice in gatherings and celebrations.”
By arriving in a Helicopter, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was able to sidestep the restrictions on vehicular movement.
Recall Process Ongoing
The senator has been the subject of a recall process following her suspension from the senate following her sexual harassment allegations against Sen. Godswill Akpabio the senate president.
She is currently battling hard to save her seat and the rousing welcome from her constituents on Tuesday would serve as a little respite for the senator.
