Man United Agree €25m Antony Sale to Real Betis

Manchester United have reached a full agreement to sell Antony to Real Betis for an initial €25 million, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. Add-on clauses could lift the total package to €28 million, giving the La Liga side a cost-effective, long-term solution on the wing.

Betis initially pushed to re-sign the 25-year-old on another loan, but lengthy negotiations ultimately delivered a permanent transfer. A deal in principle was struck last week, then briefly stalled over a wage reduction Antony had to accept before being resolved.

United will retain a 50% sell-on clause, signalling strategic value protection should Antony’s market rise in Spain. Crucially, Manchester United confirmed they will not subsidise his wages, underlining salary discipline in their outgoing business

Antony’s loan spell at Real Betis last season yielded nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances, strengthening the club’s conviction to buy. Those end-product numbers, combined with weeks of talks, sealed the transfer before the summer window shut.

The Brazilian becomes only the second Manchester United player to leave for a fee this summer, after Alejandro Garnacho’s €46.2 million move to Chelsea. Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan, while Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia remain in talks over potential exits before Transfer Deadline Day.

Ruben Amorim’s side are also pursuing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as they seek to replace Andre Onana. Onana has struggled in the Premier League and endured a difficult night in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town last week.
