Liverpool bodybuilder Akinwale Arobieke, widely known in the city for his fascination with muscular physiques, has died at the age of 64. Merseyside Police confirmed he was found unresponsive at an address in Toxteth on Tuesday, August 26, before being pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said emergency services were called to Devonshire Road, Princes Park, around 8:30 pm after reports of a man in his 60s collapsing. In a statement, police clarified: “The man’s death is not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Arobieke became infamous in the early 2000s for repeatedly approaching well-built men, an obsession that led to his imprisonment. In 2003, he was sentenced to six years in jail after being convicted of harassing 15 men with muscular physiques.

While still behind bars in 2006, Merseyside Police secured a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) banning him from touching men’s muscles or entering gyms. The order drew widespread media attention but was later overturned after Arobieke successfully appealed against it.

Despite the ban being scrapped, Arobieke made frequent court appearances over allegations of breaching the order in Manchester. His life and notoriety kept him in the public eye long after his release, cementing his reputation as a controversial figure in Liverpool.

His passing marks the end of a turbulent chapter that blended bodybuilding obsession with repeated legal confrontations. For now, police say investigations into his death remain routine, with a coroner’s report to follow.
