Board Change at a Key Hospitality Holding Company
Ikeja Hotel Plc is one of Nigeria’s most prominent hospitality holding companies, with strategic interests in two of the country’s flagship five-star hotels. The company owns the Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Ikeja, and is also a significant shareholder in The Tourist Company of Nigeria Plc, owners of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
As a publicly listed entity, Ikeja Hotel Plc plays a notable role in Nigeria’s hospitality and tourism ecosystem, serving both domestic and international business and leisure travellers entering Lagos.
Ms. Ngozi Edozien joined the board of Ikeja Hotel Plc in September 2022 as a Non-Executive Director, bringing board-level experience and professional expertise to the company at a time when the hospitality sector was emerging from the disruptions of the COVID-19 period.
During her time on the board, Edozien participated in strategic oversight, corporate governance, and board deliberations supporting the company’s recovery, asset positioning, and long-term shareholder value creation. Her role, as is standard for non-executive directors, focused on independent judgment, governance, and strategic guidance rather than day-to-day management.
The board’s statement underscores that her contributions were valued and professionally executed, reflecting the importance of strong non-executive participation in listed companies operating in capital-intensive and consumer-facing sectors such as hospitality
Corporate Governance and Market Disclosure
The resignation has been duly communicated to the NGX in compliance with market disclosure rules, reinforcing Ikeja Hotel Plc’s commitment to transparency and corporate governance standards.
The company reaffirmed its focus on delivering quality hospitality experiences, enhancing shareholder value, and maintaining high standards of operational excellence, as stated in the filing signed by its company secretary, OOT Nominees Limited
