Hungary has officially opened applications for the 2026/2027 Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, one of Europe’s most sought-after fully funded academic awards.
The scheme, created by the Hungarian government to enhance international education cooperation, offers thousands of study opportunities to students across Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, Doctoral and select non-degree programmes.
According to programme details released this week, the scholarship will again cover full tuition fees, monthly stipends, accommodation support and comprehensive medical insurance for successful applicants. Undergraduate and Master’s students will receive a monthly allowance of HUF 40,000, while Doctoral and non-degree candidates will earn HUF 43,700 per month, along with access to free dormitory housing or financial assistance for off-campus accommodation.
Applicants are required to consult the official portal to verify their country’s eligibility and review available programmes before submitting their applications online. Required documents typically include academic transcripts, recommendation letters, proof of language proficiency and a strong motivation letter. Shortlisted candidates will later undergo institution-level examinations or interviews as part of the university admission process.
The organisers have emphasized a strict submission deadline of January 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM CET, after which no new applications will be accepted. Final results for the 2026/2027 academic session are expected to be released between late June and early July.
Prospective students can access full guidelines and begin their application via the official Stipendium Hungaricum website. The programme continues to attract applicants globally due to its comprehensive funding package and the growing reputation of Hungarian universities as emerging hubs for international education.
