Gates Cambridge Scholarship Now Open for 2025 Applications

The renowned Gates Cambridge Scholarship program is now welcoming applications for the 2026 entry cycle, providing full financial support to exceptional international talent pursuing advanced degrees at the University of Cambridge.

This flagship initiative, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to build a network of future leaders committed to improving lives worldwide.

Each year, the program selects 80 outstanding candidates from outside the United Kingdom to cover the complete costs of their postgraduate studies.

These include tuition fees, a generous maintenance allowance, and additional support for travel and research.

A significant portion of the awards—roughly two-thirds—will go toward PhD candidates, reflecting the program’s emphasis on fostering groundbreaking research. Of the total scholarships, approximately 25 will be allocated through the US round, while 55 are available in the broader international round.

Eligible applicants can pursue a full range of postgraduate programs offered at Cambridge, spanning disciplines from sciences and engineering to humanities and social sciences.

To apply, candidates must demonstrate not only academic excellence but also a clear commitment to addressing global challenges through their work.

The application process is rigorous, involving academic transcripts, references, a research proposal (for PhD applicants), and a leadership essay.

Key deadlines to note:

– December 2, 2025 – For most US applicants and certain departments.
– January 7, 2026 – For international applicants and other programs.

Prospective scholars are encouraged to review specific requirements for their chosen course on the official website. Applications are submitted directly through the University of Cambridge’s online portal.

This opportunity represents more than just funding—it’s an invitation to join a vibrant community of change-makers who have gone on to influence policy, innovation, and society at large.

As the world grapples with pressing issues like climate change, inequality, and technological disruption, programs like Gates Cambridge are investing in the minds that will drive solutions.
