Just days after stepping down as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The appointment, which was announced in January was formalised at an inauguration ceremony held in Abuja and presided over by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

Speaking at the event, Keyamo described the new board as central to the administration’s ambition of reforming Nigeria’s aviation sector. “This marks not just a leadership change but a renewed commitment to world-class aviation infrastructure and socio-economic progress,” he said.

In his remarks, Ganduje expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and pledged to align the board’s work with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He promised to ensure the board operates within the legal framework of the FAAN Act and avoids institutional conflicts.

“We are committed to improving service delivery, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring our airports reflect a positive national image,” Ganduje said. He also emphasised the need for an attitude change among stakeholders, with a focus on passenger satisfaction and international best practices.

FAAN’s Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, welcomed the new board, noting it marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration and strategic direction for the agency. “With this calibre of leadership, I am confident we will elevate passenger experience and institutional governance,” she said.
