According to the company, the film shattered five opening-weekend records, becoming the first Nollywood title this year to achieve such a feat.
Celebrating the milestone, FilmOne credited the massive turnout to audience support nationwide, noting that packed cinemas and strong word-of-mouth drove the film’s remarkable debut.
Behind The Scenes benefitted from early momentum following its advance screenings on December 10 and 11, which generated excitement ahead of its nationwide cinema release on December 12.
The movie features a star-studded cast, including Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre and Uche Montana, adding to its strong appeal among moviegoers.
Akindele’s latest success builds on her previous box office achievements.
Her 2024 hit, Everybody Loves Jenifa, set a new benchmark as Nollywood’s biggest opening weekend ever, overtaking her earlier record-holder, A Tribe Called Judah, which debuted with ₦113 million.
Everybody Loves Jenifa later went on to become the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time, earning more than ₦1.8 billion in Nigeria, alongside substantial international revenue.
With Behind The Scenes already off to a record-setting start, industry watchers expect the film to continue its strong run in cinemas, reinforcing Funke Akindele’s status as a leading force in Nollywood’s commercial success.
