FMO – Entrepreneurial Development Bank is currently recruiting an Investment Officer – Energy West Africa/MENA to lead debt financing transactions in renewable energy and energy transition sectors across emerging markets.

This opportunity is ideal for senior professionals with strong project finance experience in energy markets and a passion for structuring impactful investments in Africa and the Middle East.

Salary Range: €95,000 – €115,000 annually

About the Role

The selected candidate will join the Energy West Africa/MENA team, responsible for sourcing, structuring, executing, and supervising debt-related energy investments across the region.

The Investment Officer will:

  • Originate and execute renewable energy debt transactions
  • Structure and document complex project finance facilities
  • Lead negotiations alongside legal and compliance teams
  • Manage client relationships across Africa and MENA
  • Develop country and client-level business plans
  • Identify viable sponsors and investment opportunities
  • Supervise investment portfolios
  • Coach Associates within the team

The role requires collaboration with environmental, social, insurance, legal, and compliance specialists to ensure responsible investment execution.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, or related field
  • 6–8+ years corporate or project finance experience
  • Proven deal structuring and execution track record
  • Experience in emerging markets (Africa/MENA preferred)
  • Strong financial modeling and documentation experience
  • Client relationship management experience
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
  • Professional proficiency in French (strong plus)
