Florida authorities have taken notice of the petition filed by activist Omoyele Sowore to the Attorney General of the State of Florida, United States, against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over alleged properties traced to him in the US.
Sowore’s petition had urged the Florida authorities to seize the said properties, prosecute those involved, and impose a visa ban on Wike, with analysts warning at the time of the far-reaching implications of the petition.
Media outlets in Florida, including the Florida Times, the largest in the state, now seem to have taken note as the petition graced the front page of its Monday edition.

If the petition gets acted upon, Wike’s international image could be destroyed in addition to it having implications for other Nigerian public office holders who may face fresh scrutiny of their foreign assets.
