FG Approves Temporary Use of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to Ease Lekki Traffic Caused by Truck Accident

The Federal Government has approved the temporary use of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway within Lagos following a truck accident that occurred on Monday near the Chisco area of Lekki, which caused severe traffic congestion along the corridor.

The approval was announced in a statement by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, which confirmed that the Federal Ministry of Works granted permission for motorists to use the newly completed section of the coastal highway pending the restoration of normal traffic flow along the affected route.

According to the statement signed by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, motorists were advised to remain patient and follow traffic directives as efforts continue to remove the obstruction and restore smooth movement in the area.

“The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation wishes to inform motorists that due to a truck accident at Chisco area, Lekki, the Federal Ministry of Works has approved the opening of the Coastal Road for use pending when normalcy is restored. Motorists are implored to be patient while plying the area,” the statement read in part.

The temporary opening of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway section within Lagos is expected to ease gridlock and improve traffic circulation across the Lekki-Epe corridor until the main route is fully cleared.
