FCT Administration Cracks Down on Non-Compliant Property Owners

FCTA to Seal Over 4700 Properties in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is intensifying efforts to recover over N6 billion in lost revenue by targeting property owners who have failed to pay ground rent for more than a decade.

On March 18, 2025, the FCTA announced plans to seal over 4,700 properties in Abuja due to persistent non-payment of ground rent by defaulters.

Top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) are now embarking on an enforcement exercise to seal up over 4,700 properties.

The FCTA has expressed frustration over property owners’ non-compliance, which spans over ten years, severely impacting the territory’s financial resources.

The administration revoked the land titles of 4,794 defaulters on the same day, March 18, 2025.

The sealing of properties aims to compel defaulters to settle outstanding ground rent debts and restore compliance with land use regulations.

This crackdown underscores the FCTA’s commitment to boosting revenue collection to fund critical infrastructure and development projects in Abuja.

Property owners are urged to regularize their ground rent payments to avoid further sanctions, including property sealing and potential forfeiture.
