Transcorp Hotels Plc, the hospitality subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, has announced the appointment of Dr. Awele Vivien Elumelu, OFR, as Chair of its Board, effective January 1, 2026.
The appointment follows the retirement of the current Chair, Mr. Emmanuel N. Nnorom, who steps down at the same date

Background and Professional Profile
Dr. Elumelu brings board-level experience spanning healthcare, insurance, corporate governance, and philanthropy.
She currently chairs Avon Healthcare Limited (Avon HMO), one of Nigeria’s leading health insurance providers, as well as Avon Medical Practice, a fast-growing network of hospitals and clinics.
She is also Chair of Heirs Insurance Brokers and a founding Director of Heirs Holdings Limited
A medical doctor by training, she holds an MBBS from the University of Benin and has practiced clinically in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Her medical background is complemented by executive education from Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economics

Beyond corporate leadership, Dr. Elumelu is a Trustee and Co-Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which focuses on entrepreneurship and economic empowerment across Africa.
Through the foundation, more than 24,000 young Africans have received seed capital, training, and mentorship, with particular emphasis on gender inclusion and youth enterprise development
