Donald Trump’s Sudden Volte Face on Ukraine: Says Kyiv Can Win War Against Russia in Truth Social Post

Russia Labeled a “Paper Tiger” After Three Years of War Trump says Moscow’s failure to win quickly has exposed military weakness.

Trump Russia Ukraine war

U.S. President Donald Trump has stunned observers with a new position on the Ukraine–Russia war, posted on his Truth Social platform. In what amounts to a sudden volte face, Trump—long accused of being sympathetic to Russian President Vladimir Putin—argued that Ukraine, backed by NATO and the European Union, could not only defend itself but also win back all of its lost territory.

From “Paper Tiger” Russia to Ukraine’s “Great Spirit”

Trump said Russia’s prolonged struggle in Ukraine has revealed Moscow as “a paper tiger.” He noted that the war, which began more than three years ago, should have been concluded in less than a week by “a Real Military Power.” Instead, Russia has been bogged down while Ukraine has shown what he described as “Great Spirit” and growing strength.

According to Trump, with time, patience, and consistent financial and military support from NATO and the EU, Kyiv could restore its original borders—and potentially go beyond them.

Russia’s Mounting Economic Crisis

The statement focused heavily on Russia’s economic woes:

  • Long gasoline lines and shortages in major Russian cities.

  • A “war economy” diverting most of the country’s money to Ukraine operations.

  • Increasing frustration among ordinary Russians as costs of the conflict hit daily life.

“Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act,” Trump declared.

NATO Support and U.S. Role

Trump pledged that the U.S. would continue supplying weapons to NATO, leaving deployment decisions to the alliance. He concluded by wishing “both countries well,” but stressed that Ukraine now has a real opportunity to act decisively against Russia.
