Dangote Refinery Cuts Ex-Depot Price of Petrol to N890
Dangote refinery is set to ship 90,000 metric tons of gasoline from outside Africa for the first time. The cargo is bound for Asia, according to a source familiar with the matter.
One of the world’s leading independent energy and commodity groups, Mercuria, is due to load the cargo on June 22, with a source inside Dangote refinery close to the deal stating:
“We sell our products to those who are willing to give us the highest price. It’s the buyer’s right to take the products to any destination of their choice.”
“This development shows the Dangote refinery’s growing global importance as a gasoline supplier, and the company’s confidence that production is now stable enough to meet Nigeria’s domestic needs,” said the director for sub-Saharan Africa at political risk consultancy Horizon Engage, Clementine Wallop.
