The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a formal note of appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, senior ministers, and Nigeria’s security chiefs for their role in resolving the recent industrial dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

In a statement signed by the refinery’s management on Monday, Dangote described the government’s swift intervention as decisive in averting a potential nationwide energy disruption and restoring stability to Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain.

Federal Mediation Credited for Restoring Order

The refinery commended the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Toyin Ajayi, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed, for working “tirelessly” to safeguard the country’s energy infrastructure.

Other officials acknowledged include:

  • Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment

  • Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy

  • Senator Abubakar Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning

  • Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment

Dangote Refinery said their combined efforts “rolled back the lawless directives of PENGASSAN” and prevented what it described as a planned “disruption of Nigeria’s energy sector by anarchists and agents of darkness.”

“We Owe Nigerians a Debt of Gratitude”

The statement expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support during the crisis, noting that public encouragement from “the street corners and media channels” strengthened its resolve to continue operations.

“To Nigerians of all walks of life, we owe you more than a debt of gratitude. Your support for our righteous cause was humbling and overwhelming,” the management said.

Dangote also praised its employees for ensuring uninterrupted operations throughout the strike, describing them as “the strength of the Dangote Group” and pledging to reward their loyalty.

“We Remain Nigeria’s Model Employer”

Reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare, the refinery noted that the Dangote Group remains one of Nigeria’s largest private employers and the highest contributor to the nation’s tax revenues.

“Our compensation framework is benchmarked against international standards, designed not only to reward performance but also to protect employee welfare and uphold dignity in labour,” the company stated.

It added that through training, mentorship, and professional development, employees are provided with “viable pathways for growth” and advancement into leadership roles.

Dangote Commends Judiciary, Condemns “Oligarchs”

The refinery also expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s judiciary, describing it as “the bastion of hope” that stood firm during the crisis. However, it criticised what it called “rascality and lawlessness” among some groups who defied court orders.

“The judiciary came to society’s rescue at our critical moment of need, notwithstanding intimidation by hypocritical and sabotaging oligarchs,” the statement read.

“Our Commitment to Nigeria Remains Undiminished”

Concluding, the refinery thanked its stakeholders and reiterated that its dedication to Nigeria’s energy stability remains “unshaken and unaltered.”

“We will continue to serve Nigeria faithfully and diligently through uninterrupted production of petroleum products,” the statement added.
