The Dangote Group has stated that it will cover all medical expenses and provide compensation to Ms. Ruth Otabor, the victim of a recent accident involving one of its cement trucks in Auchi, Edo State.
Ms. Otabor, a recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic and sister to reality television personality Phyna, sustained severe injuries during the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, just six days after her graduation.
According to an eyewitness account relayed by Phyna, the truck ran over Ms. Otabor’s leg before being stopped by a bystander who pursued it. It remains uncertain whether the victim was inside a vehicle or standing by the roadside at the time.
Phyna publicly voiced her dissatisfaction with the handling of the matter via social media.

In a statement issued on Thursday on its official X account, the Dangote Group confirmed the accident and reported that senior representatives from Dangote Cement Plc, accompanied by the company’s insurers, had visited Ms. Otabor and her family at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The statement reads:
“Following the recent road accident in Auchi, Edo State, involving one of our trucks, which sadly resulted in injury to Mrs. Ruth Otabor, senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc, together with our Insurance team, promptly visited the scene, engaged with law enforcement authorities, and visited the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.
