The Mastercard Foundation is hiring a Consultant, Lead, Security Operations to strengthen its security risk management framework and ensure safe, efficient operations across Nigeria. This hybrid, full-time role is based in Lagos and runs for a 1-year contract duration.

Reporting to the Head of Security, the Consultant will lead the implementation of security policies that safeguard the Foundation’s personnel, assets, and reputation.

The role supports broader Health, Safety, Security, and Facilities (HSSF) policies while ensuring operational duty of care across office and field environments.
You will oversee security risk management frameworks, monitor evolving threats, and provide practical guidance to staff and program teams.

Key Responsibilities
Security Risk Management
- Identify security risks across operational areas and implement mitigation strategies
- Monitor community relations to minimize adverse impacts
- Keep country leadership updated on emerging security threats
Operational Support
- Lead incident and crisis management, including evacuations and medical emergencies
- Ensure journey management for high-risk travel
- Oversee event and field security operations
- Maintain compliance with Minimum Physical Security Standards
Capacity Building & Training
- Conduct staff security inductions and refresher training
- Run simulation exercises to test emergency preparedness
- Cross-train with other HSSF team members to enhance resilience
Coordination & Networking
- Build and maintain security networks across public and private sectors
- Liaise with law enforcement and local leaders without compromising organizational neutrality
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure timely reporting and tracking of security incidents
- Produce weekly and monthly risk reports with actionable recommendations
- Maintain compliance with organizational standards
Who Should Apply?
You are a strong candidate if you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of security management experience, including 3 years in Nigeria or neighboring countries
- Strong understanding of Africa’s security landscape (urban crime, terrorism, political unrest, field risks)
- Proven expertise in crisis management and security planning
- Experience developing and implementing security frameworks
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills under pressure
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural engagement skills
