Comedian Mr Jollof Issues Apology After Onboard Clash with VeryDarkMan

VDM Mr. Jollof Fight

Popular Nigerian entertainer Freedom Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, has publicly addressed a recent scuffle with social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) that unfolded aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos.

The incident, captured in a widely circulated video, depicted the two individuals trading punches mid-flight, sparking widespread online buzz and concern over airline safety protocols.

In a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram account, Mr Jollof expressed regret for the disruption caused. He directed apologies to key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the airline staff and management, and fellow travelers who may have been inconvenienced.

“I deeply regret the events that transpired and want to sincerely apologize to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and everyone on that flight,” Mr Jollof stated. “I was simply acting in self-defense during the altercation. I’m truly sorry for any delays or discomfort this caused—it’s not who I am, and I assure you it won’t happen again.”

He also extended personal remorse to his family, noting, “To my wonderful wife, who stands by me proudly, and to my children—Daddy promises this is the last time. To my employer, I apologize; this doesn’t reflect my character.”

The comedian emphasized his non-violent nature, urging fans and the public to view the situation in context. While details of what sparked the fight remain unclear, sources suggest it stemmed from a heated exchange between the two public figures.

This episode highlights ongoing discussions about celebrity conduct in public spaces and the role of social media in amplifying such events. Neither party has announced further actions, but aviation authorities may review the matter for potential violations.
