This is a remote job for a Programme Officer at CIVICUS, a global organization that works to strengthen civil society. The role is part of a larger project with the European Union.

  • Location: Remote (You must have the legal right to work where you are based.)
  • Salary: $36,692.07 per year (not including benefits)
  • Contract: 12 months, with a possibility for extension.
  • Reports to: Project Coordinator – EU SEE Flexible Support Mechanism LOT 2

Role Overview

Your main responsibility will be to manage and monitor grants for a program that supports civil society organizations in various regions, including Asia, Africa, and the Americas. You will also help with advocacy to amplify the voices of these organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Grant Management: You will review grant applications, manage the due diligence process, and provide support to the groups that receive the grants.
  • Monitoring & Learning: You will help track the progress of projects, prepare financial and narrative reports, and organize learning sessions for grantees.
  • Internal Coordination: You will help streamline the grant-making processes within CIVICUS and connect different teams to ensure everyone is working together.

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in social sciences, political science, international relations, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: You need 3–5 years of professional experience in a civil society organization, with at least 2 years focused on human rights, civic space, or advocacy.
  • Skills: You must have experience in grant-making, monitoring, and evaluation, and be familiar with managing budgets and preparing reports. Excellent IT skills are required.
  • Languages: You must be fluent in English. Knowing Spanish, French, and/or Arabic is a plus.
