The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development is hiring a Videographer to deepen the reach and impact of its programmes by creating captivating visual content, stories, and documentaries.
This role requires excellent coordination, communication, and creativity skills to plan, script, shoot, edit and publish high-quality videos and visual content that effectively communicates CJID’s vision and mission.
This is a full-time position with a 6-month probationary period. We provide a collaborative and people-friendly work environment in the heart of Abuja, Nigeria.
Job Summary
As a Videographer, you will plan, film, and edit all video content. You will be responsible for handling a variety of projects within the programmes, including assembling recorded footage, applying artistic editing techniques, and finishing publishable content that reflects CJID’s vision, needs and thematic areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, script and film long and short video content for all the organisation’s projects and programmes.
- Set up and take down cameras, microphones, lighting, props, and other equipment, including handling set design and setup for live events, technical sessions, training, and workshops.
- Prepare background film, also known as A and B rolls, needed for each production project.
- Edit footage and recordings in post-production; insert dialogue, sound effects, music, graphics, closed captioning and special effects; and create a final cut for publishing after review and approval.
- Create a variety of graphic and/or animated audiovisual content for social media – at least 4 per week, including reels, short clips, motion graphics, etc.
- Manipulate film and video footage using modern editing tools and techniques.
- Consult with the team lead and collaborate with the media production associate to draft a budget, timeline, and procedure for video shoots.
- Liaise with other communications and media production personnel for the maintenance and purchase of production equipment.
- Provide direction for camera operators and other creative personnel on set to ensure the necessary footage is acquired.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
